Loving husband, father and grandfather will be honored at St. Luke's Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas (rosary/memorial: 7pm April 12th and mass: 10am April 13th - procession to San Fernando No. 2 following mass).
Gil is survived by wife Norma, children & in-laws Gilbert Jr. & Sandi, Norman & Jackie, Elizabeth & Robert Rush, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and another great grandchild on the way. Gil and Norma especially grieve for Irene Rose, affectionate daughter and first child, who came to rest in 1995.
Gil is also survived by brothers Steve Jr., Roy Sr., and families.
By Steve Sr. and Rose, Gil was born and raised in San Antonio. At Fox Tech High School, he met his life long bride and created the cartoon series "Dizzy Hites" and "the Friedenhoffenhousens". At the San Antonio Light Newspaper, his skill in photojournalism quickly developed, yielding state and national recognition for his ability to capture the magnitude of a story in humor and drama.
In freelance, at his La Villita office, Gil enjoyed long term service for Southwestern Bell (including SA Mission phone book covers), UTSA, and Southwest Research. Additional work went to LIFE Magazine, Southern Living, Saturday Evening Post, La Prensa, and many others.
All are welcome.
