Obituary

On Monday, January 12, 2009, our most beloved and precious father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Archie Mikel Anz, Jr. was taken by the hands of God into eternal life and reunited with his darling wife "Mickey". Archie was born on January 7, 1930 to Archie Mikel Anz, Sr. and Mildred (Bommer) Anz. Archie graduated from Harlandale High School and later received a Bachelor's degree in Zoology from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX. Upon graduation, Archie enlisted in the United States Air Force and became a Lieutenant. Shortly, thereafter, he and our mother (Rose Katherine Heinsch) were married on July 5, 1952. He and mother met while she was in 8th grade and were true soul-mates and sweethearts. Although, his darling Mickey passed away on October 4, 2002 after 50 years of marriage, he could not wait for the day they would be reunited. Archie began a 20 year career as a pilot in the Air Force and retired as a Major. His career included piloting fighters, cargo and bomber aircraft. His tours of duty took him to such places as England, Iceland and Vietnam. Upon retirement with the Air Force, he started a new career with the government as a Federal Agent with U.S. Customs. His various duties with U.S. Customs entailed being a Sky Marshal, Drug Enforcement Agent and an Agent fighting child-pornography. Upon retiring with U.S. Customs after 20 years of service, he joined the Kendall County Sheriff's Department and later the Hollywood Park Police Department as a Detective. He became a certified law-enforcement Hypnotist. This career ended when our mother became ill and he spent all of his time caring and devoting himself to her until her death in 2002. Our father was not only a gentleman but a "gentle man". He was extremely talented and loved photography. He was also a friend to all animals. We love you Daddy and we will see both you and Momma again. Archie Anz was preceded in eternal rest by his wife, Rose Katherine (Heinsch) Anz, his father, Archie Mikel Anz, Sr. and his mother Mildred (Bommer) Anz. He is survived by his loving children, (daughter) Carolyn Jean Gilmore and husband Rick of Clyde, TX., (daughter) Sharron Doyle and husband Dan of Arlington, TX., (daughter) Karen Anz of Rhome, TX., (son) Archie (Trey) Anz, III and his wife Jessica of San Antonio, TX., and (son) John Anz of San Antonio, TX., and special mention, his "adoptive daughter" Karen Zinke of Rhome, TX. Archie is also survived by his two dear sister-in-laws, Madeline Stacy of San Antonio, TX., and Sister Agnesine Heinsch, also of San Antonio, TX.; nine grandchildren, Leah Bailey and husband Jeff of Abilene, TX, Crystina Doyle of Arlington, TX, Amber (Doyle) Reiter and husband Chris of Suffolk, VA., Andrea Doyle of Arlington, TX., Mikel Anz of Garland, TX., Mathew Anz of San Antonio, TX., Jennifer Anz of San Antonio, TX., and Heather (Jahnke) Tessmer and husband Nick of Watertown, NY., Catherine Anz of Rhome, TX., and Joseph Gutierrez of Arlington, TX.; as well as three great-grandchildren, Dillon South of Clyde, TX., Bret South of Abilene, TX., and Justan Bailey of Abilene, TX.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
